Your Home Base to the Wonders of Elephant Butte & Beyond
Cedar Cove RV Park is the perfect home base for exploring the many attractions in and around Elephant Butte, New Mexico. Enjoy fishing, kayaking, and boating at the largest lake in the state. Bring your binoculars for birdwatching opportunities, go adventuring down ATV trails starting from the park, or walk the dusty streets of ghost towns that were once bustling during the mining boom.
Turtleback Mountain is a hike not to be missed
Caballo Cone is a little-known gem that towers nearly 2000 feet above the town of Truth or Consequences in south-central New Mexico. Known as Turtleback Mountain to locals, it is a surprisingly strenuous and scenic hike for a mountain so close to an urban area.
Birding
Bluejays and Orioles and White Pelicans, oh my! Cedar Cove RV Park is located in a prime birding area, with many species passing through during migration season. And Bosque del Apache, the crown jewel of the National Wildlife Refuge System, is just 60 miles north of us!
Elephant Butte Lake State Park
The most popular attraction in the area offers boating, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and waterskiing, as well as 300 miles of shoreline for hiking and picnicking. Elephant Butte Lake is the largest lake in New Mexico and is the perfect place to spend a day enjoying the great outdoors.
Elephant Butte Balloon Regatta
This annual event, held in late summer or early fall, brings dozens of colorful hot air balloons to the skies! Tether rides and balloon glows are also available (weather permitting).
Ghost Towns
Sierra County is home to many historic towns, from bustling centers of commerce to abandoned ghost towns. Some were founded during the 17th-century mining boom and still retain an old-world charm. Stop by the office for more information and to help plan your visit to these fascinating communities.
Sierra Del Rio Golf Course
For golf enthusiasts, be sure to check out the award-winning 18-hole at the Turtleback Mountain Resort, just 3 miles away.
Hot Springs
Experience ultimate relaxation of the hot springs. Soak in one of these natural hot or warm water pools, with temperatures ranging from 95-108 degrees. There are numerous hot springs to choose from all within a 5-mile radius of Cedar Cove!
Spaceport America
For a truly out-of-this-world experience, take a tour of Spaceport America, the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport. Bus tours run weekends from downtown Truth or Consequences (reservations required).
White Sands National Monument
For a more terrestrial adventure, consider a visit to White Sands National Monument, a unique and breathtaking landscape featuring gypsum sand dunes as far as the eye can see. The monument is a mere two-hour drive from Cedar Cove RV Park.
